My short film “Pulling at Threads” examines the process of a quilt’s creation and stages of construction and the relationship it builds with its creator overtime. “Pulling at Threads” is an abstract, five minute short film with a handmade quilt playing the main character. The quilt is hand sewn and made out of paper products that I normally use to clean my paint brushes while painting. This includes scraps of loose fabric, paper towels and toilet paper. I have always loved watching my rags get more colorful as my painting progresses, and this quilt is a celebration of art making as a process in itself.
"A Little Love Story" was my final project for an experimental film making class. I absolutely loved taking this course; I learned so much from the experience. Julia Hechtman was a great professor and guide! I am really happy with the way this final turned out. It is a simple story about a relationship.
"Two Portraits" was a project for my ARTD 3485, Experimental Video class. The prompt was to create a portrait of something; one portrait using only three cuts, and the other having one cut per second. I chose to make a portrait on painting, and focused on bright colors to enhance the visual engagement. I love making films about art and the process of creating.
"Three Walls" is a short film I wrote, shot, directed, and starred in for my "Video Basics" fall 2022 final project. The piece is about my internal struggle with creating art; and what it means to be a creator in the first place. To come out of my comfort zone, I hosted a gallery show in my apartment and invited all my close friends and family to come see it! Through seeing my peers view my art, I learned a lot about the value of creating on both an individual and communal level.
